Protection is for working air source heat pumps with no existing fault. Cover for accidental damage kicks in if your equipment sits behind a locked gate or door. Take a minute to check your setup and existing cover before you choose.

Damage caused by accident? We’ve got your back – as long as every part of the equipment sits within your property behind locked doors or gates.

Breakdown or can’t work out what’s wrong? Call us as often as you need. Parts and labour covered up to £1,500 across your plan year.

Your annual service comes as standard – no contribution needed. You’ll only ever pay towards repairs depending on your chosen plan.

Before you choose

Would protection fit
your home?

Worried about accidents? That’s exactly the right reason to check the details below – they’re what decide whether protection fits your equipment and your existing cover.

Where is everything installed? For accidental damage to be covered, your heat pump, thermal store and associated equipment need to sit within your property, behind locked gates or doors. Not sure about your layout? Ask us to confirm it before you buy.

What cover do you already have? If another insurance policy already covers the damage, we can’t cover it twice, so that’s excluded here. Still under a manufacturer’s guarantee? Ask us to confirm exactly which plan benefits apply before you choose – no guesswork needed.

Which equipment would be included? The plan covers your heat pump, thermal store, controls and sensors. A hot-water cylinder is a separate check. It’s worth checking with us rather than assuming the whole heating system is included.

Why protection, even in guarantee

A guarantee is for defects.
Accidents are a different question.

We read the published UK guarantee terms of 8 manufacturers. 6 exclude accidental damage in writing. It’s always worth checking your own guarantee terms - here is what we found.

Mitsubishi Electric

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Excluded

“accidental damage, malicious damage, misuse”

Ecodan homeowner guarantee

Mitsubishi Electric’s guarantee doesn’t cover accidental damage. If an accident happens, check your home insurance or any separate protection you already have. It may help, depending on what’s covered.

Daikin

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Excluded

“accidental and/or deliberate damage”

Warranty policy, July 2025, cl. 4.2

Daikin’s warranty doesn’t cover accidental or deliberate damage. If your heat pump is damaged by accident, check your home insurance or any separate protection you already have to see whether it can help.

Vaillant

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Excluded

“accidental damage or negligence… damage caused by animals, rodents, birds, pests”

Heat pump guarantee, cl. 13

Vaillant’s guarantee doesn’t cover accidental damage. It also excludes damage caused by animals and pests. If either happens, check whether your home insurance or separate protection covers that particular cause.

NIBE

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Excluded

“accidental damage”

Warranty terms

NIBE’s guarantee doesn’t cover accidental damage. If an accident happens, check your home insurance or any separate protection you already have. It may help, depending on what’s covered.

Viessmann

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Excluded

“Accidental damage, theft, attempted theft, malicious damage or damage caused by fire or explosion”

Vitocal warranty, exclusion A

Viessmann’s warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage. This clause also excludes theft, malicious damage, fire and explosion. If something happens, check whether your home insurance or separate protection covers the cause.

Samsung

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Not stated

No heat-pump-specific guarantee terms published on samsung.com/uk

General consumer warranty

We couldn’t confirm whether Samsung covers accidental damage from the general warranty we reviewed. That doesn’t mean it’s covered. Ask Samsung for the guarantee that applies to your heat pump so you know where you stand.

LG

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Not stated

Therma V page lists incorrect installation, poor maintenance and misuse; no accident clause

LG warranty page

LG’s page doesn’t say whether accidental damage is covered. It lists other exclusions, but that doesn’t give you a clear answer about accidents. Ask LG to confirm what your own heat pump warranty covers.

Panasonic

Accidental damage under the guarantee

Excluded

“misuse, neglect, accident… vandalism, animals… weather perils”

Aquarea warranty, cl. 1.13

Panasonic’s warranty doesn’t cover accidental damage. This clause also names vandalism, animals and weather-related damage. Check your home insurance or separate protection for the particular cause before assuming it’s covered.

Read 11.09.2026 from each manufacturer's own UK site. Terms change, so it’s your own guarantee document for your model that counts.

Three ways to pay

One plan.
You choose the contribution.

The contribution is what you pay each time you book a repair callout. Pay a bit more a month and it drops to nothing. Whichever you pick, the cover’s exactly the same.

  • £1,500 repair limit over the 12-month plan, covering parts and labour.
  • No contribution for the annual service – that one’s on us! Only repairs carry a contribution.
  • One contribution per repair, even if the engineer needs to come back with parts.
  • Repairs guaranteed for 90 days. Same fault, same part, no second contribution.
  • Spread your costs and pay monthly by Direct Debit. Prices include VAT.
  • A 12-month plan that renews automatically – you can cancel for the following year any time.
When each part starts

Support on day one.
Repairs from day 31.

No small print buried in the questions – here’s exactly how things unfold, from the day your plan starts.

  1. Day 1

    Plan starts.

Unlimited telephone technical support from now on.

  2. Days 1 to 14

    Cooling-off.

Change your mind and cancel for a full refund. If you’ve already booked a service, we’ll cancel the plan and charge you £175 for that service.

  3. Day 30

First annual service can be booked.

Once your plan has run for 30 days and payments are up to date, you can book it in, or sooner if it’ll be more than 12 months since your last service. We’ll let you know when your annual service is due. Give us a call to arrange yours.

  4. Day 31

    Repair callouts open.

During the first 30 days you’ve got telephone support on hand, but engineer callouts for repairs open from here.

  5. Month 12

    Renews automatically.

We’ll aim to send you a renewal notice 28 days before, showing the annual price to continue. Want to cancel for the following year? You can, any time, by phone or in writing.

From the fault to the fix

Something goes wrong.
Here's what happens.

Something's wrong? Call the helpline.

Ring 0800 802 1892, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm. Have your model, fault message and when it started ready, and let us know if you’re without heating or hot water. We’ll assess the next step with you on the call - if it’s a fault your manufacturer covers, we’ll point you their way.

Telephone support is unlimited, from day one.

Book the engineer. Pay your contribution.

Repair callouts open after the first 30 days. Your contribution - £0, £60 or £95, depending on your plan - is paid by card when you book. On the £0 option there is nothing to pay at all.

One contribution per repair, even if the engineer needs to order parts and come back.

A qualified engineer diagnoses and repairs.

We arrange an engineer qualified for the work, with F-Gas certification where required. Approved repairs cover labour and replacement parts for your heat pump, thermal store, controls and sensors, within whatever’s left of your £1,500 limit for the plan year. Parts are standard parts, commonly used in the industry.

Any single claim above £1,500 is yours to agree and pay directly.

Repairs guaranteed for 90 days.

If the same fault and the same part cause trouble again within 90 days of the repair, the engineer will come back, and you won’t have to pay the contribution again.

Just ask when the visit and next update are expected. Repair times depend on parts and engineer availability, so there’s no guaranteed restoration time.

Beyond economical repair? A contribution may follow.

Sometimes a heat pump just can’t be fixed - the manufacturer confirms it in writing; parts are no longer stocked, or damage from another fault has finished it off. When that happens, we may - at our discretion - contribute towards a new heat pump: up to your repair limit, minus anything you've already claimed for repairs this plan year. To qualify, you’ll need three things: a service history that follows the manufacturer’s instructions, at least 90 days on the plan, and payments up to date.

Not eligible for a contribution? You can cancel the plan without a termination fee.

Your annual service, on the same plan.

We’ll let you know when your annual service is due. Give us a call to arrange it, preferably May to September, normally after 30 days with payments up to date. If waiting would leave more than 12 months since your last service, you can book earlier. There’s no contribution to pay, and qualified engineers follow your manufacturer’s service procedure, with F-Gas certification where required. You still need to arrange the visit; a missed service isn’t refunded or carried over.

If we find a fault during your annual service, an eligible repair can be covered within your plan’s remaining £1,500 annual repair limit, subject to the waiting period, exclusions and your chosen repair contribution. With a one-off service, repairs need a separate quote and your agreement.

A dated service record after every visit. Proof of servicing when you need it.

The practical details

Before you
start.

Price & payment
£21.99, £23.99 or £25.99 a month by Direct Debit, depending on the contribution you choose - that’s £263.88 to £311.88 over the 12-month plan, VAT included. If a payment fails and isn’t made, we’ll need to suspend the plan from the due date.
Your heat pump
We cover air source heat pumps (air to air, air to water or exhaust air) that are in working order with no existing fault. A couple of things we can’t cover: a heat pump over 15 years old that hasn’t been serviced in the last 12 months; ground source heat pumps installed under the ground.
Your property
We cover homes across mainland UK. Your heat pump and equipment need to sit within the property boundary shown on your certificate. For accident cover to apply, every part of the equipment needs to be behind locked gates or doors - in a flat, communal areas and service ducts are excluded.
The contribution
£0, £60 or £95 per approved repair callout, paid by card when you book the engineer. There’s nothing to pay for the annual service, and we won’t charge you again for a return visit on the same repair, or for the same fault and part within 90 days.
The repair limit
£1,500 over the 12-month plan for parts and labour, covering all your repairs together. Any single claim above £1,500 is yours to agree and pay directly.
What kind of plan this is
Our Plans are not an insurance product and are not regulated by the FCA. All services, repairs and any replacements are provided at our discretion and subject to the terms and conditions of your Plan. We assess each request individually, and with fairness and common sense. Service Box Claims Data shows a 98% approval rate for repair requests – a fact that has helped us earn an Excellent rating on Trustpilot.
Cancelling and renewing
You’ve got 14 days to cancel for a full refund (or £175 if a service was already booked). After that, the plan runs its full year and renews automatically - you’re free to cancel for the following year any time. If you miss a booked appointment without giving us 24 hours' notice, we may charge £60.
Your manufacturer's guarantee
The terms exclude warranty-covered faults, and also list equipment still under manufacturer warranty. Ask us to confirm which benefits, if any, apply to your equipment before you buy. Worth checking any home insurance too - damage already covered by another policy is excluded. Read the warranty guide for the details.

Questions before you start?

0800 802 1892

Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm

What does the plan cover?

An annual service, unlimited telephone technical support, and unlimited callouts for breakdowns or fault diagnosis on your air source heat pump. Labour and replacement parts for the heat pump, thermal store, controls and sensors are covered up to the £1,500 repair limit over the plan year. Damage caused by accident is included where the equipment is within your property, behind locked gates or doors.

Is this insurance?

Our Plans are not an insurance product and are not regulated by the FCA. All services, repairs and any replacements are provided at our discretion and subject to the terms and conditions of your Plan. We assess each request individually, and with fairness and common sense. Service Box Claims Data shows a 98% approval rate for repair requests – a fact that has helped us earn an Excellent rating on Trustpilot.

How soon can I use it?

You get telephone technical support from the day your plan starts. Engineer callouts for repairs open after the first 30 days. Your first annual service can be booked once the plan has run 30 days with payments up to date, or sooner if it’ll be more than 12 months since your last service.

What happens if my heat pump breaks down?

Call the helpline and we’ll talk it through with you - if needed we’ll arrange an approved engineer. You’ll pay the contribution shown on your plan certificate when you book, if your option has one. If it turns out the fault is one your manufacturer's guarantee covers, that route applies instead, since the plan does not cover it.

Are there limits on repairs or callouts?

No limit on the number of callouts. The total cost of repairs - parts and labour together - is capped at £1,500 over the 12-month plan. Any single claim above £1,500 is yours to agree and pay directly.

What is the contribution and when do I pay it?

A fixed amount - £0, £60 or £95, depending on the option you choose - paid by card when you book an engineer for an approved repair. You won’t be charged again if the engineer needs to come back to finish the same repair, or if the same fault and part recur within 90 days. And there’s no contribution at all for your annual service.

Which heat pumps qualify?

Air source heat pumps (air to air, air to water and exhaust air) in working order, from Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Vaillant, NIBE, Viessmann, Samsung, LG, Panasonic and many other makes. A couple of things we can’t cover: a heat pump over 15 years old that hasn’t been serviced in the last 12 months, and ground source heat pumps under the ground. Not sure yours qualifies? Just ask - we'll check before you pay.

Can I join with a fault already present?

No. Pre-existing faults are excluded - that includes faults that were there when the heat pump was installed, and any faults we’ve already told you about that haven’t been fixed. If something’s wrong right now, find the right route first.

What is not covered?

Faults covered by your manufacturer's guarantee, pre-existing faults, malicious or wilful damage, negligence and misuse, flooded equipment, sludge and scale (and the damage they cause), your central heating system and generic heating equipment, maintenance work, upgrades, consumables and user tasks, cosmetic damage, and any single claim above £1,500. You’ll find the full lists in the plan terms (PDF).

What if a fault is found during my annual service?

If it’s an eligible fault, your plan can cover the repair within the remaining £1,500 annual repair limit. The waiting period and exclusions still apply, and you pay your chosen repair contribution, if there is one. We’ll assess the fault and explain the next step; the service visit isn’t a promise of an immediate repair. A fault that was already present when you joined isn’t covered by a new plan. With a one-off service instead, we can help you obtain a separate repair quote, and you decide whether to go ahead.

How do I book the annual service?

We’ll let you know when your annual service is due. Call us to arrange your visit, preferably between May and September, once the plan has run 30 days with payments up to date. You can book sooner if waiting would leave more than 12 months since your last service. You still need to arrange the visit; a missed service isn’t refunded and won’t roll over to the next year.

What if my heat pump is still under manufacturer warranty?

Faults covered by your manufacturer or installer are handled by them. The plan terms also exclude equipment still under manufacturer warranty, so ask us to confirm which benefits, if any, apply before you buy. Check your registration and guarantee terms, then read the warranty guide for the full picture.

What if it can't be repaired?

If your heat pump is beyond economical repair, we may - at our discretion - contribute towards a new one, up to the repair limit, less any repair costs already used this plan year. To qualify, you’ll need a service history that follows the manufacturer's instructions, 90 days on the plan and payments up to date. Not eligible for a contribution? You can cancel without a termination fee.

Can I move house?

Yes - you can transfer the plan to a new property, as long as the heat pump there is eligible. Just tell us the make and model so we can check it. The plan itself can’t be transferred to another person.

Can I cancel?

Within 14 days, yes - for a full refund, unless a service has already been booked, in which case the plan is cancelled and £175 is charged for that service. After 14 days, the plan runs for the full year. It renews automatically, but you can cancel for the following year at any time by phone or in writing.

Are there other fees?

Just your monthly payment and the contribution per repair callout. Two fees apply only in specific cases: £60 if our engineer attends a booked appointment and you’re not there (easily avoided by giving 24 hours' notice), and £175 for a service already booked if you cancel inside the cooling-off period.

How do I get in touch?
